Parsells Agency is a well-established northeastern New Jersey insurance company with a solid customer base and outstanding customer service (of which I can personally attest, being a longtime customer).  However, when they contacted Carlson Web Design they had an outdated and ineffective website that was a poor representation of their corporation and ineffective marketing tool.

Our task was straightforward, if not exactly easy: we needed to redesign the site to better reflect Parsell’s service offerings and company image, and to make the new site rank well in the search engines.

Although further expansion of the site is planned in the very near future, phase one of the project has been a success.  We’ve given parsellsagency.com a much-needed facelift, creating an entirely new design and layout that’s both attractive and easy to navigate.  And as always, we’ve integrated WordPress to serve as the content management system, allowing the site owners to easily add, delete and modify text and photos.  Also, the new site has been optimized to display not only on desktop browsers, but also on tablets (such as the iPad), mobile devices, and cell phones.

Through careful search engine optimization practices, Carlson Web Design has also greatly increased the exposure and subsequent traffic to ParsellsAgency.com.  Their new website now ranks at or near the top of the first page on Google and Bing for ‘NJ risk management’, ‘Bergen County insurance companies’, and other such highly-competitive keywords relating to their industry.

United Pressure Cleaning, NJ pressure cleaning and power washing website

United Pressure Cleaning is a new business that opened it’s doors in early 2o11.  Having design and developed a site for another business of that they own, Steve’s Painting Inc., the owner contacted us to create the site for their new venture.

Carlson Web Design created their visual look-and-feel by first creating several compositions in Photoshop before arriving at one that we felt most suited our client’s needs and preferences.  As with all our projects, we hand-coded the site’s structure and then integrated WordPress on the back-end to server as the Content Management System.

The goal of this project was to create a clean, inviting site that showcases their various areas of service — residential, commercial, and industrial — and allows the user to easily access information and contact the company.

In addition to carrying out all the design and development work in-house, Carlson Web Design also provided copy writing services, and set up their social media (Twitter, Facebook), integrating them with the site itself.

A strong Web presence is of particular importance to small businesses and start-ups, and we leveraged our experience in this area, allowing us to build an effective marketing tool for customer.

Third Eye Comics, comic book store website

Third Eye Comics of Annapolis, Maryland contacted us in early 2011.  Their existing website was dated and the owner needed better Internet presence with which to market his growing business (which has since expanded to a second location in Prince Frederick, MD).

In addition to giving the new site a better graphical look-and-feel that’s consistent with their brand and industry, the owner needed a means to regularly update the site in order to showcase their inventory.  ThirdEyeComics.com is a high-traffic site with a consistent and loyal readership and the staff frequently posts reviews of new titles and products, so it was necessary to install and customize WordPress as their back-end Content Management System.

Third Eye Comics also relies heavily on social media and currently has over six thousand fans of their Facebook page, making the integration of their Facebook feed an important aspect of the development of the new website, which we accomplished.

Lastly, we set up the site for optimal search engine placement.  Third Eye Comics currently places at the top of the first page of Google and Bing for all search terms related to Maryland (and ‘MD’) comic book stores and shops, resulting in a significant increase in their Web traffic.

Denise A. Manniello credit repair Blog site

Denise A. Manniello is a credit repair and debt elimination expert and consultant. Her site features numerous articles on the topics of credit repair, debt elimination and money management, and serves as center of communication between her and the clients for whom she provides consulting services.

The goal that we set out before we set out was to create Denise’s website to both explain her services and to act as an educational resources to her clients and to the public. To accomplish this, Carlson Web Design has included a flexible WordPress Content Management System and blogging platform, search engine optimization, and a clean, professional design.

The website has a rock-solid foundation for future growth and expansion to accommodate all of Denise’s requirements as her business and client list continues to grow.

Dog House Saloon and Grill bar website

The Dog House Saloon & Grill is a friendly neighborhood bar and home to Backwoods BBQ, north Jersey’s best barbecue restaurant. Our goal in creating the Dog House website was to create a strong visual look that carries over it’s brand and differentiates it from the competition.

It was also necessary to create a database-driven site that could easily be updated to reflect the many dinner and food specials, live music shows, and other events that the Dog House Saloon & Grill offers. In turn, we created a search engine friendly site with a flexible WordPress content management system and blog.

Carlson Web Design and Consulting also maintains the Dog House website, updating the site’s content, continually monitoring their search engine statistics and regularly modifying and optimizing the site for improved search engine visibility.

The Dog House Saloon & Grill website currently appears on the first page of Google and Yahoo for the highly competitive key phrase “Bergen County bars”, among many others.

Menu Management Panel

The Dog House Saloon now features a customized Menu Management Panel that allows the site owner to log in and easily add, delete or modify items to their menu through a simple web interface. It’s as easy as typing in the name, description and price of the item and clicking on the “Update” button, and the menu is automatically updated and formatted. Horseless Carriage Carriers auto transport and storage website.

Horseless Carriage Carriers, Inc. is a nationally known auto transportation and automobile storage company, specializing in moving and storing luxury and classic cars. Their website was outdated and needed an update. Furthermore, they had no means of easily updating the text or photos within the site, and it was poorly optimized for search engine visibility.

I was hired to create a clean, new design and to completely re-code and re-build the site. I did this, in addition to integrating it into WordPress for their back-end content management system, and performing in-depth SEO.

Steve’s Painting Inc. is a local commercial, industrial, and residential painting company that was in need of a web presence. After consulting with the owner and sales manager, I was hired to design and develop their site from the ground up.

This particular project is still something of a work in progress, as we are currently developing content for the site. However, the main structure and design is currently online.

ParaviewTV VOD television channel website.

Paraview TV is an upcoming Video-On-Demand (VOD) channel that will be carried by Verizon FiOS and Comcast television providers. The site will cater to audiences interested in the mind/body, spiritual, and environmental/green genres.

The focus in initially creating the ParaviewTV website was to attract potential investors and to impart the concept of this new station to them. Carlson Web Design created a design that reflects the theme, and a flexible layout and platform that will enable them to expand once the station launches.

The site integrates WordPress for the back-end CMS and includes a full blog, video and other media.

Total Home Inspection website.

Total Home Inspection Services is a New Jersey-based company in the highly competitive field of home inspection services. Their previous website was nothing more than a scanned JPG image of their brochure, and they needed a real web presence that they could update to reflect their company news and service offerings.

We met with the owners to get a feel for their business goals and services offerings, and decided how to best present them through their website. Carrying over their existing company logo and colors, we created a website that worked within their existing corporate identity.

The site is powered by a WordPress database to facilitate simple updates to text, photos, and other media files.

Best of Everything Gourmet Deli website.

Best of Everything is a gourmet deli located in Ridgewood, NJ. Their prior web presence was merely a listing within an an Internet directory, and they needed a website to reflect the quality of their outstanding selection of home-made cuisine.

They also have several extensive menus, and they needed to have a method to update them and allow customers to print them out. We created a custom JQuery function to enable the menus to be printed in plain text without including the site’s graphics and other extraneous information.

The Best of Everything utilizes TextPattern on the back-end to serve as their content management system. This is currently being changed to WordPress, primarily because of its ease-of-use.
